Early summer
It was too hot for me today. It IS nice not to have to be dragging around sweaters and coats, etc., but hot and humid in April? I could do without that. Although I should be used to it as that was the norm in DC!
Continuing my trend of being disciplined, I cross-trained today. I felt really blah and had a humidity headache when I woke up, and didn't feel so great at the gym. Just kind of dragging, as I guess I would be on those sub-par runs I seem to have every so often. I split my time between the bike and the elliptical. I tried to start a new book while biking (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safron Foer) but couldn't really concentrate. The book's narrator is a neurotic ten-year-old boy whose father was killed during 9/11, so it's not exactly a light read! I biked in the afternoon before lifting and had to buy US Weekly to motivate myself!
I am getting worried about my job prospects for the summer. I had an interview today for a position at the NYC Dept. of Health, but the program I would be working on is in the South Bronx and my commute from Brooklyn would be close to 1.5 hours each way. Hopefully something else will come along, or else I'll be scooping ice cream! (Which, truthfully, I wouldn't even mind all that much, but our program requires that we do an internship and it's easier to do it in the summer than during the school year.) Anyway, that's all for now--I have tons of reading to do.
