Workout without my posse
For various reasons, I was the only one of my usual track group (those of us that pace together) who was able to make it tonight. Luckily, I met someone new (although not new to the group) who I was able to work well with. It turned out also that she ran at Ithaca College, so we probably ran against each other in college at some point! I think she's more of a speedy 5K type, but luckily for me she's just getting back into shape.
This was the first time I'd done a workout like this--a mile at tempo pace right into a fast 400, a mile slightly faster right into a fast 800, and a mile at 10K pace right into a fast 800. I had a lot of trouble switching gears, which I'm sure was due in part to having done a long run only two days ago. It was a tough workout, harder than it sounded on paper. By the time I got to the 200s at the end, my legs were really dead. But the miles did get a little faster each time, and the effort on the fast parts was good, even if the times didn't really reflect that.
In other news, it was really warm again today. It's supposed to snow later in the week, though, so I guess I should enjoy not being the only one in shorts while it lasts. OK, I must go and finish my tasks for the night so I can get to bed at a reasonable hour. I'm meeting faithful blog reader Audrey for our first run together in the morning!
