Longest run in a while
I can't believe I haven't taken a nap today. I definitely planned on it, but it never happened. The one thing (well, one of the things) I don't like about long runs is that they seem to take all day. I met a few people (including Alison, who was in town for the Boston Indoor Games) at Cleveland Circle this morning at 8:30 and made sure to park where I wouldn't get towed this time. It was much warmer than it's been in the past few weeks, but still below 40, so perfect temps for me.
We ran parallel to the marathon course for about 5 miles and then out on the course until just past Wellesley College, at which point we turned around. I felt surprisingly good for the first hour and a half; my knee hardly bothered me at all and my big breakfast was providing the fuel. It was also nice to have company and good conversations. I started to lose focus a little bit after that, and had a minor meltdown on the last of the Heartbreak Hills, when my ITB/quad was super-tight (probably subconsciously favoring my good leg again) but all in all, it was a very good run, a total of probably a little over 20 miles.
A few of us warmed up with hot chocolate at Dunkin' Donuts after the run, so by the time I got home after dropping a few people off, it was 1pm. I had some reading to do for my classes this week and then Matt and I finally picked out the wedding pictures we want for our album, something we've been meaning to do for months now. Then I had to go grocery shopping, so no nap was accomplished. But it was a good, productive day so I'm fine with it. Now it's time to rest up for my first real day of class in quite some time!

I just wanted to let you know, as of Sunday I started reading your blog. Everywhere I read there is info about knee pain. So I decided to go way back to the beginning, and I see there was knee pain there too. It took me a long time yesterday of reading to see you had surgery at some point. I really wish you the best. I like your blog. I have no answers. I run, bike, and swim too. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't run.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I find your story interesting, and wish you the best of luck.
Thanks
Steve P
