A long day
I am glad that today is (almost) over, since it was a long day for me, but I am not even looking forward to the weekend that much since I have so much studying to do. At least I am going to get to meet and for a run with Barb since she'll be visiting Boston!
That gives me something to be excited about. :)
This morning, it was Becky-hot. I didn't even need my long-sleeve shirt after a few minutes, and I had to stay outside my apartment building for a few extra minutes to cool off before going upstairs. It's just weird that the weather is so different from week to week in late November...Oh yeah, the run. Not so hot--my legs were really tired and actually a little sore. I just wasn't enjoying it all that much. When I stopped to take my shirt off and tie it around my waist, right near the main Harvard campus, a girl going at a pretty good pace (but wearing TIGHTS!!) went by me. We were running on opposite sides of the street for awhile and I was going to cross over and say something (since it was before 6am and how many people do you see?) but then she must have turned off. Then, I was running around the perimeter of Fresh Pond and I saw her again a little behind me. I'm not sure where she went from there, but my shoe came untied and I bent over to tie it and she went by AGAIN!! I caught up to her, was about to say something, and then she abruptly crossed the street and went into a building. Oh, well--I'm sure I'll "run" into her again if she's an early morning regular.
I should probably take a cross-training day tomorrow but it always takes longer and I need to hit the books. I'm thinking of going for an easy run in the Fells, a small trail network near my grandparents' house, and then stopping by to say hi. Actually--I should go call them and warn them I will be stopping by all sweaty! Have a good night everyone!

becky-i met our new running group tonight. i really like them. i met three nice women, 2 were 35 and one was late 20s i think. not my pace and definitely not your pace, but they were lots of fun to talk to. and the other people are really friendly too. you're right, they are older in general than DCRRC, but they did get a big turnout and it was so nice to be around other runners for the first time since May!!! some of the women i met might go to the track so you might see them there.

sorry to bombard your blog but this is on my mind and i thought it was interesting...the 4 mi race i ran involves crossing two highways. meaning there are traffic lights. if you are in front of people, and then get stuck at a light, everyone catches up. and your final time totally includes the time you were stuck waiting for lights to change. this totally caused people to run across the highways against red lights (think frogger) to avoid these delays...it was the craziest thing i have ever seen. it really is a little bit of luck thrown in there. they run this race every week so everyone is always trying to PR-but you can't if the lights are against you on a particular night...crazy!!!! in my evaluation of it-i didn't like it. i hate stopping when i am running.
