Running, writing and reading
Well, the sushi last night was disappointing. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary either. We will continue our hunt for the perfect Tono Sushi replacement (our D.C. neighborhood joint.) We ended up walking to the restaurant and back, so it took awhile, and then I did a little work and gloated as the Yankees killed the Red Sox. I tried to go to bed on the early side so I could get out the door early today...but I still woke up (or stopped snoozing, I should say) later than I wanted to.
I didn't bring a long-sleeve with me on my run and was just wearing a tank top, and I was (amazingly) pretty chilly the whole way! I was sweating a lot as usual, but my hands were cold. Nothing like what Jessie described happens to her hands, but that does remind me that I should tell the story of my frostbitten toe last winter. I will remember to do that.
Anyway...my run was pretty boring, but I got a little lost and ended up out there a little longer than I wanted to be, mostly for time reasons. I felt decent, a few knee twinges but mostly okay. After about 45 minutes, though, I got really tired and lethargic all of a sudden. My legs were probably still recovering from the longish run yesterday since I hadn't done that in awhile. I know I have to be patient, but I feel so out of shape!
Tonight I swam and realized that I am very out of swimming shape now, too! When I wasn't running at all this summer, I was swimming 5x a week or so, and it really whipped me into swimming shape. Now it's a struggle to go 20 minutes. I think part of it was due to my tiredness from running, though--I had been swimming as my first (and often only) workout of the day, and now it's just a supplemental thing. I want to keep it up, though, so I don't completely lose it. Plus my gym has such an awesome pool that it's a pleasure to swim there. The synchronized swimming team (club?) was practicing tonight...what a riot! But I'm sure it's very challenging :)
Back to work...and to watch The Wire, our new favorite HBO show.

Yea! I hope you do come in town...we'll have to do sushi and/or a run. :) I'm glad you can run longer again.

Have you tried Oishii? They are out in Sudbury and also Chestnut Hill. It's somewhat expensive, the one in Chestnut Hill is always busy, and the one in Sudbury is out-of-the-way, but the sushi is fantastic (and so is the sake).
