Long (short) week

This quarter (basically the next eight weeks or so), I managed to schedule myself Fridays off. I'm excited mostly because I can sleep a little later after four early days in a row! And I will have time to get more schoolwork and errands done, of course :) Even though it's almost my "weekend", this week has felt really long and I'm not sure why. At least the World Series is finally OVER. (There is a victory parade near Fenway on Saturday morning and I am SO glad that we don't live very close by. It's going to be nuts.)

My run this morning was better than average. (Or average lately.) I did a lot of foam rolling on my quad and upper knee area last night--it requires me to get into contortionist-like positions, an added bonus for my audience--and it did feel a little looser this morning. It was a beautiful day and it was light enough out by time I got to Fresh Pond that I could get off the road for 3/4 of a mile or so.

Tonight I ellipticalled a bit and lifted. I was sitting on a bench doing some arm stuff and this girl looked at me and said, "You're jacked!" very admiringly. It was a nice compliment, especially since I had just come from my nutrition class where I found myself to be borderline obese using many of the traditional "optimal body weight" measures. I'm chalking it up to my extra muscle mass, or else I'll get freaked out.

Tomorrow I am planning to meet Alison for a run in Franklin Park and then watch the Big East meet. I am really excited to see Kim Smith, Molly Huddle and lots of other studs in person! (It doesn't take much for me to get excited.) And as for the running part, I am a little nervous since I still feel out of shape (especially compared to Alison) but hopefully some Advil and a good attitude will do the trick!

LOL, omg you are not obese!! on a serious note, maybe that is one reason athletes have distorted body image. maybe we should have our own measurement scales? hmm....i see a future public health initiative-if those don't already exist which i think they might. and you do have nice arms!!! have fun on your run tomorrow. I would be so scared running with alison too!!! I will be at my 2 labs bright and early...oh yes....enjoy your extra sleep time!!

Yes, I am awfully scary. You're going to be so disappointed when you see how slow I go :-)

I second Audrey - I would be scared to run with Alison :) Becky - I think those measurements are crap. I also think women's sizes are distorted. I usually buy size 8 pants, but I can fit into a size 4 at abercrombie and fitch, among other stores and designers. I don't get any of it. I have never seen you, but I wish I was more "jacked"!!! I feel very soft right now:( Anyway, PLEASE report on the race at Franklin Park - I would love to see Kim Smith, Huddle and company run!!!!

You're awesome! Whenever I read your entries, I feel a little nostalgic for Boston (I miss it).
