Lazy Sunday
I slept a lot again last night and I felt like it made me groggy today. Hmm. Not like I have too many chances to sleep too much! Once I finally did drag my butt out of bed, it was a really nice day outside. I ran about 45 minutes and felt great for the first half (knee-wise) and decent for the rest. I deliberately incorporated a lot of hills into the run since I haven't done many lately. I'm just extra-careful on the downhills since they tend to bother my knee.
On my way back toward home, I ran by the finish line of a 5K. I knew it was going on, but I didn't want to pay $15 to jog a 5K; I'm not in racing shape right now, obviously. (Nice long-sleeve t-shirts, though--perhaps I should have entered!) When I checked the results later today, I was surprised to see that a friend of mine placed third. She recently married one of Matt's best friends, so I don't know her all that well, but I didn't realize she was a sub-20 minute 5Ker. She told me she runs a lot, but you never know what people mean by that. We'll have to hook up for some training runs!
So besides my run this morning, I did some work, enjoyed the sun coming in to the apartment, and did a quick swim/pool-run combination. After the pool, I had some errands to do and it seemed like everyone else in the world did, too. I had to make a special trip to Trader Joe's to get these veggie burgers I love--no other store around seems to carry them.
I noticed some really fast women's marathon times this weekend from Akron, Twin Cities and Emily Levan at Maine. Many under 2:40, which is encouraging. I've never been to Minneapolis but have heard great things about Twin Cities, and the weather tends to be on the cool side. I'll put that on my "to do" list...
