Frantic Five
Last night, setting my alarm, I had a weird feeling that I was going to oversleep in some way. Well, my alarm definitely went off (several times) but I must not have looked at the clock until 5:45, when I had wanted to be out the door 10 minutes earlier. I made the best of the time I had left, though, and was lucky that my geographic intuition about what would be about a 40-minute loop was correct!
I felt pretty good today. Of course my knee was bothering me for the second half of the run as usual, but I felt like I was able to move more quickly today, which is a good thing. I passed two people along the way and noticed that both were wearing about double the amount of clothes I was (my long-sleeve lasted 11 minutes today.) Later, when I was waiting for the bus, I saw someone in full tights, a jacket and a HAT! I shudder to think of how hot I would be in such an outfit on a fall day.
Although I feel guilty about running less than I wanted to (I had intended to do 55 minutes or so), I'm happy that at least what I did went well. (And I was actually early to the bus stop, making me think, 'I could have done 5 more minutes!' :) I'll probably go to the gym later for some ellipticalling and lifting, which will make me feel better in my sick and obsessed way.
I feel like there are all these big races here this weekend (BAA half and Tufts 10K) that I will probably watch, but would rather be a part of! Oh, well--there's always next fall.

Hi, it sounds like running is going better-I'm happy for you. Christine still isn't running much, but her knee is improving. Someday we'll all be in shape again...
Send a picture of your new haircut-how short is it?
Have a great week,
Jessie

I agree that running in Tufts this year is probably not a great idea. There's no reason to try to race when you're starting to build back up. I'm so happy to hear that you are running most days of the week now.
