Cross-training day

I realized that I had run more than 7 days in a row and figured I better take a day to cross-train. Like Jessie said about herself, I used to pride myself on running every day. I hope to get back to that point (or close to it, anyway) but I know now that it's important to take things slowly, especially since my knee is still bothering me.

I biked to the gym and ellipticalled for a little more than an hour (for you people who elliptical for 90 minutes plus, what is your average stride rate?) I was definitely working hard and my sweat level was getting pretty unbearable (i.e. I was slipping on the foot pads.) Gross, I know, but I'm used to it :) Tonight I did a swim/pool run combo. I swam in the only pool that was available (shallow) until the deeper one opened up, and it was disgustingly warm. Of course I was freezing when I got into the "big" pool, but it was worth it. I always feel like I'm swimming in a bath when it's that warm.

Well, I'm off to put my laundry in the dryer. The excitement never ends.

Sounds like you need a bowl of oatmeal. ;-)

I will have to check on my stride rate the next time I do the elliptical. I know when I finish, the number of miles it says that I have done is around 9:00 pace if it was running (if that makes any sense).

I totally share you disgust for warm pools. When a pool is warm it makes it seem like people have been peeing in it or something, it is gross.

My stride rate was 75-80 tonight. I was feeling pretty flat. The elliptical I was on earlier today had me around 160, which I assume is the equivalent of 80. If I go any faster, I feel like I'm out of control!
