Hello Strangers!
Boy, I have been really bad at updating my blog since Chicago. I do not know if it is general busy-ness, burnout after a big summer of training, or just laziness. Okay, maybe it has a lot to do with the fact that I am a lazy bum. But I have been busy! Bodie the puppy is a ton of work. She has had the runs (excuse my frankness but we are all runners here and we all know about poo issues) for about four weeks which is exhausting as she seems to only need to exhibit her symptoms in the middle of the night. She is so much fun though, I just love her! I have also been traveling a good amount. I visited my BFF B. in New York two weekends ago, which was so much fun. We had the best time. I spent all my money. I also finally tried cupcakes from Magnolia, the original cupcake place, and while they could stand to re-engineer their ordering process, they are very delicious and the buttercream frosting really does taste like butter. I also ran a good amount there. However, the week before my trip, I thought I had bronchitis. Um, it was actually walking pneumonia. So that gave me a few days of rest, which was probably good since I didn’t take a lot of time off after Chicago.
I am really really really excited about training over the winter and rocking a few tris in 2008. I am still undecided about my schedule for 2008 but I’m pretty sure I’m going to do the series I did this year again. And I will be hoping for better weather. I am probably going to fly out for the Philly Distance Run and try to go sub-1:30 for a half marathon. That would be so awesome I can hardly stand it! I am considering a marathon but I cannot say that I’m a huge fan of the marathon after my two experiences.
So that is about all. I’m not training all that much right now – around 40-50 miles a week, with some biking on the trainer, lifting once a week, and swimming every few weeks depending on where I am in my hair color cycle (it pulls all the color out so I don’t like swimming in the week or two after I get it colored). I really want to start doing yoga once a week and swimming more consistently, as I think it’s my biggest area for improvement in the tris.
And of course in two days I will be running in one of my favorite races of all time, the Denver Turkey Trot. I just cannot wait! The weather’s supposed to be super cold but hopefully that means I can do well in my age group. The Trot is my favorite thing about Thanksgiving as I do not enjoy Thanksgiving foods. Luckily this year I am being very selfish and making one of our guests bring me a nice fruit pie, so I will have something to eat. I am not feeling good about my time in the Trot this year what with all the time off from the pneumonia but it is always a ton of fun, so I plan to enjoy every minute. Happy Thanksgiving all!!
