Low Center of Gravity

I have always been really short. I topped out at 5'1" when I was around 14 years old, and that made me a little sad, because I always wished I was a little bit taller. Not much, just maybe two or three inches, and all in the legs. However, here are a few benefits of being short:
1. Low center of gravity (hence the title) - When you have a low center of gravity, you are better at skiing, and you can keep your balance a bit more easily. For example, when I slid on a patch of black ice this morning during my run, I was able to stay upright.
2. As a girl, you can date almost any guy because they are all taller than you. Speaking of dating people, check out Matt's new blog. His blog is not ostensibly about anything, which is kind of cool. Although my blog is supposedly about running, but realistically it's about everything.
3. You don't bump your head very often. This isn't really a benefit. It's just what tall people say to make short people feel better about being short!
4. You can sit in the back seat of most cars without problems.
5. As a girl everyone thinks you're adorable!

That is about enough of that. I got my lazy butt out of bed before 7:00 for once this morning. Frankly I did not sleep very well. Matt did not go to bed until late and I could hear him watching American Idol for a long time. Then I was not sleeping very soundly and he was snoring like he is wont to do. So later on today I may be feeling a bit wretched, but right now I am not doing too badly. My run was nice but pretty slow - there was still a lot of snow all over the roads and sidewalks. It was pretty cold but I was fine in my warmest running outfit. My foot is still feeling good.

Matt is picking me up after work today and we're driving to the mountains, I believe. I think we are skiing at Vail tomorrow with our friend M. so that should be a good time. Hopefully I will get some running in. M. and I are also going to do some triathlon planning, so we are excited about that. And of course the most important event of the weekend is the AFC Championship Game!! Go Broncos!!!

Why are you suddenly today thinking about being short??? Cute list. I should fwd it to my friends. It makes sense that we would be "e friends." I have so many short friends. I am 5'5'' and I am one of the tallest ones. It's so weird. We used to joke that they put something in the water in my hometown to keep us all short. We would play other towns in sports and they would tower over us (every sport, both genders. It was really weird).

Anywhoo, I am about to check out Matt's new blog. Thx for passing it along. I hope his Cherry Blossom preparations are going well!

Even if you were tall, everyone would still think you were adorable

In my imaginary vison of what you look like, I thought you were taller. I always think of myself as short because I have a number of tall friends or I end up being with all guys, but in reality I'm 5-5. Part of my problem is just coming accross as tiny. I wish I was taller, but sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for, you could end up being something like 6-6...way to tall for a girl!

Just as Blondie said - I totally pictured you much taller - like a 5'9'' maybe. Why? Not sure...but I think it's funny Blondie and I both pictured that.

Have a fun weekend! (but not too fun so that the Steelers win! :)

I'm 5'8", with ridiculously long legs, have never skiied b/c I'm a klutz, constantly bump my head, and the seats in cars always have to be adjusted for me. Oh, and I should mention that my husband is only 5'5" (who hopefully thinks I'm adorable) :-)

I am with you on the short thing. Im 5' 1" (although i claim to be 5'2" because i have that extra 1/4 inch, so doesn't that move me up and inch?) The other thing is that people ALWAYS assume you are younger than you are. That used to annoy me like CRAZY, but i am enjoying it a bit more now :)

I do not remember you being noticably short, per se. I suppose being very pretty (sincerely) and having a 10' tall personality can help make the more trivial traits easier to overlook!
