I am NOT sick!

Ha ha, or at least that is what I tell myself and everyone else as I hack up my lungs and lay on the couch for two days because it is too exhausting to do anything else.

I am kind of proud of myself as yesterday I wanted to work out twice but I didn't, I'd rather be healthy this weekend than work out more this week. And working out when you don't feel well is probably just not that productive, and right now I am in a new state of mind where I am running to get faster, not just to add miles to my running log.

So yesterday I ran 5 miles and felt not that great but not that terrible, but I decided it would be bad to run more. Today I was supposed to get up at 6:30 and run but I decided to sleep until 7:45 and run on the treadmill at lunchtime instead. I think that was a wise decision since sleeping is good when you are a bit under the weather, it's hot as balls at 7:00 am anyway right now, and it's nice to have some variety and if I go to the gym I may even lift weights.

Not that much else has really been happening. It's been kind of a boring week - it's too hot to do anything outside and we haven't had social plans so far. However tomorrow we are going to see Twelfth Night in Boulder so that should be lots of fun. We are in a theater-going phase right now, so we have lots of plays coming up, including Wicked which I am so excited about.

So far this week my running is way behind where I'd like it but the good news is that we don't have anything going on this weekend that would prevent me from running. So I want to get a nice long run in Saturday or Sunday. We'll see how it goes!

Ooooh - you'll have to tell me how "Wicked" is. I loved the book but didn't get the chance to see the play before I left NY. It's actually in Chicago now and I was thinking about trying to get tix for it. I look forward to your review.

Don't stress over the lower mileage this week -- when you're sick every mile counts twice (or at least that's how I like to think about it). You seem to have a responsible approach: better to get healthy, then worry about getting the miles in.
