Going to the Mountains
I am so excited that we are heading up to the mountains today! I love going to the mountains in the summer, it is so pretty (and hopefully nice and warm). I am frankly a bit less excited to run the half marathon on Sunday, although I think it should be very pretty and fun. I am not racing this half (at least this is what I tell myself although I should see how fast people there are, because if I could get a prize, maybe I'll change my mind). I am however currently treating it as a nice long run with lots of people around. I may incidentally wear a bib but that is the extent of the 'racing'.
Anyway yesterday was such a strange day as far as weather goes, it poured rain for a long time, then it stopped, and then the minute I left work it started dumping again. Since I was not dressed for the weather I just headed to the gym. I had considered running again but I am into being mellow and feeling good when I run right now so I decided I rather cross train. I did the elliptical for 50 minutes while I read my book and watched insipid TV.
This morning I was feeling lazy but I knew I would hardly run if I didn't go, so I ran a 5-5 1/2 mile loop from home. Then I came back, stretched a little, packed for Steamboat, and hurried to work. I want to leave here by 2:30 at the very latest today so I can get home and we can leave for Steamboat, which is 2 1/2 to 3 hours away. Matt said he would go for a little run with me when we get there, which I think will be lots of fun! I really like running with him when I get the chance, which is not very often.
I think it will be a great weekend! I may take my computer up there so I will possibly blog over the weekend.

Have fun in the half marathon! Sometimes when you do not go into a "race" or a long run with specific expectations you surprise yourself the most :) I like your philosophy of approaching it as a nice long run - I think you are going to have a blast.
