Go Hogs

So Arkansas is not that bad. The running situation is sketchy, as pjm describes best, but that is all right. It's not as bad as Dallas. Here I really do not think everyone wants to run me over although they do seem shocked and perplexed by seeing a small woman out trotting around.

So we got to Arkansas (my colleage L. and myself) around 3:00 yesterday afternoon, Central time. The airport is absolutely tiny, it is kind of funny. But the flight was okay and I had the first row to myself which was nice. I am reading Slaughterhouse Five. So that was a good way to pass the hour and a half flight. We went to work for a while and just got settled a little bit and then I discovered that one of the other guys on the project is a runner which is so great! So we decided to go for a quick run after work at a place he has found. It's just a residential road that turns into a dirt road after a while so it is nothing too special, but it was fine. We ran 3 miles. So I ended up with 10 miles for the day.

We went to dinner as a team which was nice but which I do not want to do too often. I rather eat cereal and relax, because I am anti-social and I'd rather talk on the phone to friends than hang out with work people in general at night. Not only that but I get up at a sick hour in the morning and I am so tired today.

This morning I woke up at 6:00 (note this is 5:00 Denver time, and I stayed up till 11:00 talking to Matt and then to my friend B.). I was so tired but I figured I might as well go out and trot around. I found a non-offensive run and trotted around Springdale for a little over an hour to give me 7 miles for the morning. I am running with the guy from work again after work for maybe 5 more miles so that should be good. There is nothing to do down here but work out, so I plan to make the most of it from that perspective. Then tonight I am going to bed EARLY!

In the spirit of Blondie's suggestion, I did a few pick ups in the run this morning and I do plan to do this and strides much more often to get faster again. Not too much else is going on. I can't wait to go home! I will try to update again tonight when I get done with my second run.

You didn't fly into the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, did you? If so, I hope you got to go by the llama farm on your way to wherever you are staying. That's my favorite part of going to Arkansas (other than watching the NCAA Indoor meet). They're for sale. I want to buy one one of these years...
