Relatively Big Week
So I kind of surprised myself this past week with over 60 miles - for the first time since before my marathon. That was cool. I really didn't plan on running that much or anything, it just kind of happened, but I am pleased. It has however appeared to ramp up my appetite to revolting levels but that is cool.
Here is what happened over the weekend....
Friday afternoon:
Went to the gym and ran 6 miles on the treadmill to get 10 for the day. This was not too exciting and my stomach was driving me nuts due to eating lunch maybe 4 hours beforehand, but I was happy to get the miles in. Since Matty was really sick on Friday, we didn't go to my parents' for dinner and didn't really do much of anything that evening which was kind of nice although I felt terrible for Matt.
Saturday:
Went to practice and did a fartlek workout. It was great to see everyone after my two week Europe break, but I felt a bit ragged. Just felt kind of slow and my legs were a bit dead. Still had a good time and ran about 8 miles.
Sunday:
Got up early, around 7:30, and ran 12 miles from home. I had wanted 13 or 14 but my legs felt so tired that I was very happy to make 12! It was one of those runs where I kept saying I would stop (i.e. just run 4 miles, just run 6 miles, just run 8 miles) but then I kept going. My joints felt much better than they have recently on longer runs so that is encouraging. It is so time consuming to do the long runs so I felt kind of rushed all morning (we actually went to church at 10:30 so that's most likely why I was running around like crazy, but it was a good experience!), but later in the day things calmed down. We bought Clue the board game and The Incredibles DVD and played with both of them last night which was fun, although for some reason after 8:00 I could hardly keep my eyes open! I am attributing it to the increased mileage, not the fact that I am an old lady in a 26-year-old's body.
Monday:
Woke up around 6:10, ran a very mellow but nice 5 miles. It was rainy but not too cold which was a nice change (this is all relative, apparently it was 34 degrees out but I'll take that!). That is all the running and working out I am going to do today, I am planning on leaving work around 5:30, going to the grocery store, picking up mail at my apartment, and cooking dinner. Should be a nice day.

Congratulations on your 60+ mile week! I think I'm a 15-year-old in a 30-year-old's body, but I still can't stay up late. I do think lots of running has something to do with it. Have a great day!
