Happy Days Are Here Again!
First of all thank you so much to everyone that commented on my sad blog.
Now here is the return of the happy running blog: Woo Hoo!!!
I love, love, love being home! Denver is so great. My family is great. Running is great. Everything is so much better now that I am here. So here is the running for the past few days, starting Wednesday:
Wednesday:
Got home from NY. My flight took off an hour late but only landed 20 minutes late. I waited around at the airport for a while because my stepdad and stepsister D. (who is in town from Seattle) were picking up her boyfriend J. in addition to me. It was fun to see D. and meet J., I hadn't seen her in 5 or 6 years. I got home around 6:30 and the level of motivation to run was kind of low but I'm really glad I did. I ran about 5 miles and felt really good for some reason. I finished up about 7:45 and then tooled around and cleaned my apartment.
Thursday:
Whee, Turkey Day! Because I am on eastern time I woke up at 6:15 am. So I finished my book (Washington Square, by Henry James), cleaned more - yes my apartment is a disaster right now - and ran down to pick up my packet for the Turkey Trot. It was SO nice out so I was really hot in tights, so after I got my packet, I ran back to my apartment and changed. Then I ran back down to the start and met my brother S. All in all I ran 6 miles before the race. Then the four mile race started and we jogged the first three miles (8:53, 8:30, 8:15) and I started to feel pretty good so I kind of took off for the last mile and surprised myself by running a 6:45. Overall it is my slowest Turkey Trot in several years but my fastest closing mile! It was really fun to hang out with S., we are very close but I have not seen him too much lately since I am always gone. So after the race I showered, picked up S., and we went to two Thanksgiving dinners = one at our mom's house and one at our dad's house. They were both great and I loved having all the family time. In summary for Thursday: 10 miles, 2 Thanksgiving dinners, and 2 pieces of pie.
Friday:
This morning I was able to sleep until about 7:00, which was a definite improvement. I got up, tooled around, cleaned my floor, watched a little bit of the Today show, and went for an 8 mile run around two of the parks near me. When I started it was about 40 degrees out and cloudy. As the run progressed it started raining and then the rain turned to snow. However, now it is sunny and milder. Crazy weathermen, they know nothing, they said the high temperature today was going to be at 10 am! After running I chilled out for a bit and then went to the gym and swam/aqua jogged for about 30 minutes. I felt like I could have done more but the pool was starting to get crowded and I decided that was enough exercise for now.
Tomorrow I am actually going to practice - Woo hoo! - and then going shopping for my Christmas present (iPod) with my mom. Matt gets back from Minnesota on Sunday night so it will be nice to see him.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and enjoys their long weekends!
