Weekend Update
Well this was a short weekend but an eventful one.
I have kind of a funny story and I am dying to know if this has ever happened to anyone else, so I will start with that. Yesterday (Sunday), I ran an easy 9 miles. I would have liked to have run 11 but I was really tired due to not getting enough sleep Saturday night. Anyway I was on my way back to Matt's house - I ran from there - and when I had about four minutes left in the run, a bee flew up my nose! I immediately did kind of a farmer's blow maneuver but not before it stung me in the nostril. It would have been really funny if it didn't hurt A LOT. Well okay, it is still really funny. I was kind of freaking out though because we were supposed to go over to Matt's mom's house for lunch - she was the one remaining family member that I hadn't met - and I didn't want to go over there looking like I had gotten punched in the face if it got really swollen. So when I got back I was crying because it hurt so much and because I was so upset that my face was going to swell up and I was going to be hideous but then I couldn't stop laughing because it was so funny and ridiculous!
Obviously Matt already knows I have a screw or two loose but I think this really brought it home :)
Anyway has this (or something similar) ever happened to you? I really want to know.
So luckily my face did not swell up like a balloon although today I feel weird and not so good. I'm not sure if I will be running today or not. My body feels kind of like I have the flu - really sore, and it hurts when I touch anything. I have a big important meeting type thing from one to four this afternoon so when that's over I may go to the hotel and go to bed for a long time.
In other running news from the weekend I went to practice for the first time in a while on Saturday morning where I had a really good tempo workout with the group. It is amazing how much better I feel when I don't start out too fast! That was a good lesson.
Friday I got up early, flew home standby on an 8:05 am flight, and went for a run after I got back. I ran about 8 miles and it felt nice although getting up early to fly home was kind of tiring. Glad I did it though.
This week I'll be here through Thursday and then I will fly home, hopefully get a ton of stuff done on Friday, and then we will be leaving for Puerto Vallarta on Saturday morning! I am very excited about this trip!!

Well, that kind of thing hasn't actually happened to me--but my mom once had a bee sting her tongue. A bee had crawled into her can of Coke and when she took a sip, the bee came out, freaked out, and stung my mom's tongue. My poor mom--we would have all felt much sorrier for her if it hadn't been so funny, especially with her yelling, "A bee thtung my tongue! There wath a bee in my thoda!"
Hope you feel better soon!

Ouch. I've never had that happen, I was a big enough wimp when I got stung on the ankle bone recently. I'm glad you could see the humor in it, but OUCH.

Me neither, Barb. Guess you're special. Hope you feel better soon, though!
