Enjoying the rainy weather
I normally love the sunshine, but its been so nice to have it cool off I have not minded the rain the last few days at all. Saturday evening, I did the 8.5 mile run I was planning for my second run of the day. I felt pretty good for the end of a much improved training week. My hip was slightly sore in the last few miles, but it felt fine again today. Sunday, I worked until 3pm, got a sports massage and than celebrated Father's Day early with my husband's parents. The sports massage was rather painful, but I could tell that it loosened my hip back up after Saturday's runs and helped the lingering tightness in my left calf. I enjoyed my day off a lot, although I felt pretty lazy since the only exercise I got was walking for about an hour with my husband in the evening. This morning I ran 5 miles and am waiting for my ride to pick me up for an afternoon run in a neighborhood I've never run in. I am not sure how far we will run, but I want to get 6-8 more miles in, so I might run home if we don't go very far. Depending on the weather, I am going to try an interval workout either tomorrow morning or Wednesday morning. I am excited to run hard, but nervous that it will make my hip worse. I have really been enjoying being able to run for real again.

Liking the rain clouds
I ran 6 miles this morning at a pretty good pace. I went over to our local running store, hoping they would have started their summer running group, since I really felt like running with people today. No one was there, but I decided to leave my car there and run home for a different route. After a (much needed) shower and breakfast, I had my husband drop me back off at my car and went into work for a few hours. I just got back home and am waiting for my husband to be finish up what he is doing, so we can go to the openhouse of one of my senior girls from track. Than I plan to run and meet my dad at 5 pm to run around the nearby lake, which should give me another 8.5 miles (14.5 for the day and 50.5 for the week). Now, I just need to get speedwork and consistant crosstraining workouts added back in and I will finally feel like I am making progress with my training again. At least my hip likes the hot weather, even if I don't. Right now we have some great storm clouds rolling in. Hopefully it will still be cloudy and maybe even raining for my second run today.

Still hot and humid
On Thursday afternoon I ran 5 miles and spent the rest of the day in meetings for work. This morning I ran 4 miles and was going to run again in the afternoon, but my afternoon meeting went late and there was not time to get home, run and get back in time for a program we had this evening. I got home about 9:30 pm and went for a long walk with my husband. I am just going to add those missed miles to tomorrow and should still be able to get my 50 miles in this week without running Sunday. I am really pleased with how my hip has been doing these past 2 weeks, but I am trying to be smart and make sure to give myself a day completely off from running at least every other week. With the weather as hot as its been, I am going to enjoy a cross training day on Sunday. For once the gym, with its lovely air conditioning does not sound so bad. Its been over 90 degree and extememly humid for 6 straight days and its suppose to be the same over the weekend I am feeling a lot better about my hip right now. This week I have been able to do almost all my runs around 7:30 pace, with some of the shorter ones down around 7:00 to 7:15 without my hip getting very sore. Even 3 weeks ago, if I ran below 8:00 minute pace it would start to really act up. I am hoping to try an interval workout next week, and if that goes well, I will be about ready to declare my hip finally better.

Long Run
Yesterday, I did run 4 more miles in the evening, for my second run. Today, I did not run in the morning, since I had to swing by work and do a few things before our early morning planning meeting and I wanted to sleep. I ran about 5 pm when I got home, and paid for my sleep in sweat, since it was sunny, humid and 90 degrees. I wanted to get a long run in, so I ran to the trails, did the longest loop, and ran back by a longer route, to get 11 miles. I was pleased that my hip felt pretty good even at the end of the run, since 11 miles is the most I have done in one run since I hurt my hip. I did not feel too badly out of shape either. I felt fine (except for being way too hot) and my legs were not very tired either, although I know I went a bit slower than I would have last winter. I have been getting stuff done around the house, grocery shopping and reading this evening. Now, my husband and I are going to take a walk and than I can't wait to sleep.

Not writing, but I am running
Well, I have not done a good job of writing here for quite a while, but at least I am doing much better with running this past week. I will just quickly cover my running since I wrote last:
Wednesday: 6 miles and a great Honor Roll meet for my track girls
Thursday: 6.5 miles in the morning and 2 miles at track practice
Friday: 6 miles including a trail loop with my dad
Saturday: 3 miles warming up at the State meet (my off day)
Sunday: 9 miles including another trail loop
Monday: 4 miles at 7:30 pace and 5 miles at 7:15 pace
Today: 4 miles this morning and am about to go for a second run with my husband when he gets back from work.
Others news of interest, would be that my 4x800 team broke the school record running 9:33.16 and taking 6th at the State meet (not bad for a bunch of cross country runners). My 3200 runner also got 6th, although my 1600 runner did not medal and was dissapointed with her race. Other than that, we had our track banquet last night and I am in the midst of a ton of meetings at work. We are not on the retreat we were suppose to be on to figure out all the new job assignments like planned (long story), but we are meeting most of every day in the area. So time to stop sitting and go get ready to run.
